Parentage differs according to the child’s parents status. The mother’s parentage is official as soon as her name features on the birth certificate. The father must make a declaration of acknowledgement to establish paternity.
Acknowledgement of parentage
Parents can acknowledge the child together or separately. Parentage is declared at the civil registry office of any town hall with proof of identity. After the birth, the mother’s parentage is automatically acknowledged when her name features on the birth certificate. To be acknowledged, the father of the child must go to the town hall with proof of identity, the child’s birth certificate or the family register. Acknowledgement of paternity will be added to the child’s birth certificate and the family register by the town hall.
